Soap Saves

Every 10 seconds, a child dies from a disease that could have been prevented with proper hygiene.

For these children, the largest threat to their life is not having access to a basic bar of soap. This is not a guilt trip - this is a fact. And we are determine to help.

With more than 2.4 million children dying from hygiene and sanitation related illnesses each year, and with studies have proving that soap is the single most effective way to prevent these deaths - more effective than vaccines, medications, or clean water initiatives alone - we kept asking ourselves, "damn, could we be doing more?". The answer was HELL YES.

Why Soap?

We make soap. Soap can save lives.

In 2014 we launched our most impactful product yet, Darn Good. This is not a product in the traditionally sense. It's a way to help those in need, it's a way to make our plant better through business, a way to empower customers to spend thoughtfully. It's a way of living.

Darn Good is our effort to help ensure that for every Damn Handsome purchase we distribute soap to a child in need. We believe that everyone has the right to be handsome.

The Darn Facts

10 Billion pounds of soap are produced each year.

The average person encounters 100 chemicals before breakfast.

We absorb 60% of the substances we put on our skin.

October 15th is Global Handwashing Day.

Children under 5 who wash with soap can reduce their risk of pneumonia by 46%.

In impoverished communities the leading causes of death in children are diseases that can be prevented with soap.

Basic hand-washing can cut morbidity rates in these communities by nearly 50%.

Do You Really Donate Soap?

You're darn right we do!

We've partnered with non-profits like Clean the World to ensure our soap distribution to children in need. We repurpose our soap scraps, left overs and odd ends and send them our with love on a quarterly basis. On top of that, we supply a soap donation crate at all of our events so our customers can donate any unused household and hotel soap.

Darn Good is our little way of making this world a little better and not a little worse.
